Since its introduction with the 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang, the classic pony car has achieved near mythic status and a cult like devotion with millions of examples sold over the years in an almost equal amount of different configurations. One of the first models specially prepared by Shelby-American for Ford to burnish their racing image was the 1965 Mustang Shelby GT350 fastback coupe. With a hopped up motor, specially prepared suspension, brakes, and finished in Wimbledon White over Guardsman Blue stripes she immediately went on to success in her first time out of the gate with a victory at Green Valley Raceway, Texas on February, 14, 1965. In celebration of 55 years of racing excellence, and the GT350, Ford is making a Limited Edition 2020 Ford Shelby GT350/R Heritage Edition Package.

Looking Back For Something New

The first, most striking, detail of the car is the color palette. In white with blue stripes she hearkens back to the GT350's of yore and the racing heritage which Ford is clearly trying to tap into. The 2020 model will also feature unique front and rear badging, interior touches and contrast stitching.

Heritage Edition Features

Other upgrades, which are found in the base GT350 courtesy of lessons learned from the GT500, are revised front chassis geometry, updated anti-lock brakes and MagneRide tuning, a redesigned high-trail steering knuckle, and a new steering rack and recalibrated electric steering control system.
