GMC along with A+E Networks has announced the premiere of their forthcoming film "Revolution: GMC Hummer EV," a 60-minute documentary that recounts the tale behind the evolution of the 2022 electric pickup truck. The Hummer EV made it to public in record time by a carefully selected team of GM employees.
For automakers to offer EVs in more significant numbers, getting their existing customers and the masses to join is necessary. Many people aren't aware of electric vehicles and aren't likely to spend time studying the technology. General Motors' new Hummer EV documentary puts the electric pickup truck on national television for the entire world to view.
Only Two Years Required To Develop Hummer EV
GMC's electric "super-truck" went on sale in December 2021, after just two years in development. When GM first introduced its Hummer EV, many thought it wouldn't ever come to the market, and even if they did, it would not live up to expectations. However, the automaker did succeed in bringing it to market by 2021, and we're now seeing these monsters out on the roads.
“Our goal was to upend what an electric vehicle is capable of and push the boundaries from 100 years of vehicle development experience," said Executive chief engineer for the Hummer EV Josh Tavel. "This documentary captures the soul of a team capable of incredible innovation and resilience. Their learnings are laying the foundation of vehicle development for decades to come.”
The documentary takes viewers from the cold, icy winters of Michigan's Upper Peninsula to Moab, Utah's hot rough, off-road conditions. The documentary also shows previously unreleased footage from the GM testing and development facility and the facility where the viewers can see the GM Factory ZERO undergo retooling and the creation of the Ultium Platform.
