Honda started its "Acura" lineup 30 years ago to enter the luxury cars market. The Acura Integra was the first car to roll out under the Acura branding, soon becoming a cult classic among JDM enthusiasts. Being a subcompact sedan, the Integra had lots of potential for customization, thus its rising popularity to this date. The 2023 Acura Integra comes after a long 20 years in North America and looks ready to fight for its spot in the entry-level luxury sedan market.

Now, all Acura Integras are based on the popular Honda Civic, sharing many underpinnings. This is good news for anyone thinking to buy the car since the Civic is an established car, and Honda does not want to mess up with one of its best-selling models, thus ensuring the basics of Integra are great. The base Honda Civic is already a good match for the Integra. Still, in 2022, Honda brought out a sporty version of the subcompact sedan called Honda Civic Si, which gets upgrades in every possible way and poses a threat to other performance sedans.

Being a luxury subcompact sedan, the Acura Integra also features decent performance, but Acura has focused more on its aesthetics and a luxurious experience to its buyers. Due to this, it isn't easy to choose between the Acura Integra and Honda Civic Si, as both the cars are spectacular subcompact sedans.

Acura Integra Vs Honda Civic Si: Two Turbocharged Beasts With The Same Engine

The 2023 Acura Integra and the Honda Civic Si share the same VTEC 1.5-liter turbo I4 engine, producing 200HP and 192lb-ft of torque. The Civic Si has seen a decrease in pure performance. However, its high-revving nature and a wider powerband will translate to better responsiveness and overall performance, resulting in improved drivability over its predecessors. The new Civic Si also features an intelligently designed flywheel which is 26% lighter and increases acceleration. With a 10% shorter gear throw and firmer mounting points, the 2022 Civic Si offers a much more exhilarating driving experience. Like the Acura Integra, the Civic Si also features a front-wheel-drive setup. It's new 'Helical' slip-differential allows more efficient management of power and torque.

The Acura Integra also features the same six-speed manual or CVT transmission present in the Civic Si. Being the first Acura Integra to have a turbocharged engine, the 2023 Acura Integra is certainly a special car. Based on the Civic Si, buyers have high expectations for its performance, since official figures have not yet been released from Acura. The 2023 Acura Integra also features a limited-slip differential in the manual version, allowing greater traction. The adaptive suspension paired with custom drive modes will allow the driver to fully utilize the increased power.

The Acura Integra shows its luxurious side with faux leather heated sport seats, which are electronically adjustable, coming equipped in the base model. The base model comes with an eight-speaker setup, while moving up the trims can get you a superb sounding ELS 3D sound system with a 16-speaker setup.

The sporty theme continues inside, with red-contrast stitching across the interior. The red trim-finished dashboard and door panels further complement the sheer exhilaration surrounding the cabin. The 'Si' moniker is embroidered on the new sports seats of the performance to give a special feel to anyone riding in it. In the tech aspect, the Civic Si has all the basics right with a 7-inch combo digital instrument cluster with surprisingly high customization at this price point. Both the 2023 Acura Integra and the 2022 Honda Civic Si saw exterior changes that gave them a unique look. The design of Acura Integra does not fit a single specific category. Its rear end has a liftback design for the boot lid and features four doors and a capacity for five passengers. The Integra's Diamond Pentagon grille takes center stage, a signature Acura element. Due to its sporty sides, the Integra also has functional air curtains on the extreme ends of the bumpers. Buyers can choose between the 17, 18, or 19-inch alloy wheels with a brushed metal finish that makes them even more stunning. With a slightly sloping roof, the Integra almost has a coupe-style look.

Unlike the Civic, the Civic Si features a unique honeycomb-shaped grille with a red 'Si' pattern indicating its sporty profile. Honda also made clear that the front painted panel is wider and more outward than the standard Civic. Also, the rear end sees a new spoiler and dual exhausts, which seems odd for a front-wheel-drive 200HP compact sedan.

Both the Civic Si and Acura Integra are great compact sedans for different buyers. The Honda Civic is the perfect blend of sportiness and daily-driver capabilities. In contrast, the Acura Integra will give you a more luxurious and refined experience at a lower price than most luxury sedans.
