It's a bitter irony facing President Joe Biden. Now that he occupies the most powerful office in the world, he now has to come to grips with some things that he won't be allowed to do, at least for the next four years. He can't call his buddies without letting the Secret Service know first. He can't open a window for some fresh air. And he also can't drive, which is a shame since he owns an awesome Chevrolet 1967 Corvette Sting Ray convertible.
Lotsa Sting From A 327 V8 Engine
Given its status as one of the most iconic sports cars ever built in the U.S., the Corvette is the ultimate must-have in the eyes of serious gearheads. And among Corvettes, the 1967 Sting Ray's especially attractive given its status as a legendary model. That a politician whom detractors call "Sleepy Joy" owns a classic Corvette is an eyebrow-raiser. But then, who would hit the road in this hot set of wheels just to doze off?
Biden enjoys more political might these days than he's ever had, so it makes sense that his favorite car would have the power to match. Armed with a 327 cubic-inch, four-barrel V8 engine, this Sting Ray generates 350 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 360 pound-feet of torque at 3,400 rpm. Also coming in handy is a four-speed manual transmission, which helps propel the Sting Ray to achieve a top speed of 151 mph and leap from 0-60 in less than six seconds.
Biden Allegedly Tried To Sell His Corvette
Obviously, Biden's going to miss all that fun in his Sting Ray, now that security rules out that pastime, raising the question of what will happen to his prized Corvette. Rumors were rampant that within days of winning the federal election back in November, Biden was selling the vehicle on Craigslist, asking for $1.2 million.
The ad stated that the convertible was fitted with front and rear disc brakes, Guldstrand suspension and headers, Rally wheels, and had its fuse box replaced recently. The ragtop was also in good condition without any splits in the material, especially the rear window. However, the ad has since disappeared.
The Sting Ray Might Still Be In Delaware
An extensive search regarding the Sting Ray's status yielded no news of the vehicle changing hands. One dispatch revealed that Biden still owns the sportscar, apparently located at his old digs in Wilmington, Delaware. It's not likely that the President had it brought to the White House, seeing that he'll never be able to drive it. Pity, since the Sting Ray is ranked among the best Corvettes ever built.
