In Sam CarLegion's latest YouTube video, we find a tuned Honda Civic pitted against a 2022 Acura TLX in a family feud series of two drag and two roll-out races. Will the Honda flagship Civic come out on top, or will the spin-off Acura take all the glory?

Honda Civic Versus Acura TLX Drag Race

As the racers prepare for battle, we learn that both the Acura and the Honda are in Sport Mode settings. In the first drag race, the Acura launches off the line, leaving the Honda in its dust, and sails on for an easy victory shown on the finish line camera. It seems as if the Acura is too fast for Honda.

Race number two begins much the same, with the Honda spinning its tires and the Acura blasting off ahead. Again, the Acura's in-car camera angle indicates the Honda is falling far behind. But near the finish line, the Honda is making up ground, nearly catching the Acura at the end and going much faster.

The Honda Civic suffered tire spin issues in the standing start drag race, but how will it do in a 30 mph rolling-start race?

First, the Acura gets the rolling start advantage with the show's host driving it. But that advantage isn't enough to fend off the faster Honda Civic at the finish line. So, Sam decides to shift the Acura in the second rolling-start matchup manually, and it appears to provide more power, but the Civic still wins.

The Acura TLX Type S in the video sports a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that produces 335 hp and 354 lb-ft torque and features a 10-speed automatic transmission. The car weighs in at 4,179 lbs, over 1,000 lbs heavier than the Civic. However, the Acura's most significant advantage in the standing start drag race is its all-wheel-drive system that provides substantial traction compared to the front-wheel-drive Civic.

The Honda Civic seen in the video features a tuned 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 300 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque. The Civic uses a constant velocity transmission or CVT and front-wheel-drive to motivate its 3,140 lbs.

The lighter, front-wheel-drive Civic had difficulty finding traction during the drag race. Perhaps the aftermarket carbon-fiber hood reducing weight over the drive-wheel worked against it? But the Civic is the faster of the two cars, as evident by nearly catching the Acura at the end of the drag race and its convincing wins during the rolling start contests.
